Lieutenant Colonel Jamie Van Heel grew up as a part of Hills Christian Life Centre (now Hillsong Church) in the mid 80s and was heavily influenced by, and active in the the youth ministry. At the age of 18, he joined the Australian Defence Force Academy (AFDA) and 3 years later commenced training at the Royal Military College Duntroon. The ADF has over 100,000 serving members with over 2000 members currently deployed. ADF members are constantly required to put their lives on the line for their country. Jamie has had the opportunity now as an officer in the Army for over 25 years to be a Christian witness in various units around Australia, on deployment in Sudan and lead an organisation called the Military Christian Fellowship (MCF). MCF is an organisation that promotes Christian faith in the ADF through encouraging, equipping and inspiring Christians in ADF to be salt and light where God has placed them in their spheres of influence.
